    Testosterone

ALL bodies make and need testosterone. It is important for building and maintaining bone and muscle. It helps keep your mind sharp, gives you energy and plays a big role in mood and libido.

We have receptors for testosterone in our brains, bones, muscles, heart and other organs.

We all know that men need testosterone to feel good, but women need it also.

Women makes 4 times more testosterone than estrogen before they go through menopause.

As men and women age testosterone declines.

As it declines we experience fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, loss of muscle and inability to build muscle, bone loss, loss of memory. loss of libido and more…..

    Estrogen

Estrogen declines as women go through perimenopause and menopause.

Replacing estrogen can alleviate hot flashes and night sweats, bone and joint pain, problems with mood and motivation.

Even if you do not have any of these symptoms, I usually still recommend replacing estrogen. It is FDA approved to reverse osteopenia and prevent osteoporosis!!! THIS IS HUGE! THIS IS TRUE PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE!

Fifty percent of women over 65 will develop osteoporosis. Of them 30% will be gone within a year, another 30% will never return to their previous level of functioning!!! More women will develop an osteoporotic fracture than heart disease, stroke and breast cancer combined!!!

Estrogen also has been shown to PREVENT cancer, heart disease. and dementia.

    Progesterone

If you still have your uterus then progesterone is non negotiable if you are taking estrogen. Progesterone keeps the brakes on estrogen’s effect on the uterine lining.

Even if you have had a hysterectomy I will probably still recommend it because it can be immensely helpful for insomnia and anxiety.

Progesterone is also anti inflammatory, plays a role in bone health, cardiovascular health and is neuro protective- it helps protect our brain cells. It binds to our GABA receptors in our brains to help us feel relaxed and calm.
